My Dear Hubby

Dave,
I am so thankful to have a husband like you. I want you to know our son Loyall and I are ever so proud of you and what you have been doing to serve our Country. Your an amazing leader just like your father. Keep your head high and be home soon for dinner.
-Love always, your wife Virginia

Congrats!

Hey Dav, Its Abe here, I just wanted to Congradulate you again. I don't think I've ever been more pleased to promote someone before. You definitely deserved the rank of vice-admiral.

Leader of Mobile Bay

Great Job my son! I am so proud of you. You're a born leader my boy, I think everyone has always known that though. Anyways, just hope you know the world will recognize you for your great accomplishment! "Damn the Torpedoes!" Ahh that will never grow old son.

Civil War Victory at Mobile Bay!

We've been waiting for this day for months now and August 5th finally arrived! Our patience and hard work definitely paid off yesterday in our victory. As we started to creep into the bay, I hadn't noticed the bay was heavily mined with torpedoes until after I ordered my fleet to charge. Silly me, I know. My USS Tecumseh struck a mine and sank and that's when I realized my fleets beginning to pull back!
I screamed down below “What's the trouble?” and all I heard back was “TORPEDOES!” I couldn't believe I spit the words out but I ordered back “Damn the Torpedoes! Full speed ahead Drayton!” and there I led my fleet in charging and we didn't get touched! After we entered with our Union ships in the bay the fort just surrendered and we began to do our job. I still can't believe my rallying cry, I feel so proud!

Who Am I..?

Good day here, fellow bloggers. I am David Farragut. Growing up, my life has been pretty hectic, but because of it I wouldn't have the accomplishments I have today.

I was born July 5th, 1801 near Knoxville, Tennessee as James Glasgow Farragut but at the age of eight I changed my name to match my adoptive fathers name. Now don't get me wrong, I love my real parents, but our close family friend David Porter, took me under his wing to show me the ropes of the Navy. He had me training as a midshipman at age nine and watching combats by the time I was eleven and from there I only learned more! I married a beautiful woman named Susan Caroline Marchant, and we both fled the to New York after our wedding! However sixteen years later she past away, and in 1843 I married my present wife Virginia. Just a year later she gave birth to our son Loyall Farragut.

You could say my career started when I was a young boy. At age twelve my father gave me the assignment to bring the USS Essex back to port safely. Many people called me the boy-veteran of the War of 1812 but in my head I was just proud I impressed my father. My first great success as a commander was when my men and I captured New Orleans in 1862, I was promoted to rear admiral, the first such officer in the U.S Navy, how about that! I then attempted to take Vicksburg but let's just say that didn't go as planned..As of right now, I am turning my attention to the Confederate port of Mobile, AL. It should be taking place soon! This is our next plan, but shh don't tell anyone!
